Help #1 - Grab the New book:
The Social Ref explains 5 Key Communication Habits to becoming a better recreational referee or umpire. The key framework is the “Switchboard” which breaks down common instincts and habits that slow down new refs, and causes them to fail or give up. The Social Ref Book can help any referee or umpire for any sport, but is best suited for beginning officials in recreational leagues who may have never umped or reffed a game before in their life!

Help #3: Speaking and Live Workshops
Have a large enough program where you need help “training the trainers?” Have a large group of student refs and umps every year like in an intramural department? We can come teach the Social Ref Program to your sports league or College IM Dept.
We specialze in 2 Kinds of Communication Workshops:
1) CAP Workshop - We can teach groups of 20 - 300 referees and umpires about the basics of CAP, conflict, and defusing tough situations with players, parents, and coaches. Live CAP workshops are ideal for new groups of referees and umpires, or a yearly conference for a Referee or Umpire association.
2. Professor Workshop - “Train the Trainers”
Professor Workshops are normally for higher level refs and umps that are recruiting, training, and evaluating your group of referees and umpires. We deal with the Social Ref R.A.T.E. system for attracting new talent, along with ideas on how to give feedback and help new refs and umps on the field and in the classroom.
You always need new Refs and Umps for your league!
Do you have time to teach them once you find them?
We can help!
If you have a league or program that needs a new system for building rec officials with communication skills, ref tips, and a beginning framework, we can help with teaching ideas and resources.
